13 to 15 Months
The time when your child is 13 to 15 months old is the developmental stage when your child emerges from the “silent period” (the period in time when she cannot talk). Depending on the baby, she may speak her first word as early as the 11th month, and from then on, she will learn more and more words. On the other side of spectrum, in the 13 to 15 month period, there are still babies who have not spoken their first word.
There are not only personality differences between children, but also environmental differences that can affect speech development. Additionally, it is known that baby boys tend to be relatively slower in the early stages of language learning than baby girls. As a parent or care-giver, it is extremely important to understand these individual, environmental, and gender tendencies and to nurture your child’s growth properly and never push your child too hard.
