28 to 30 Months
During this three month period, your child will begin to use pronouns while speaking, but most toddlers at this stage are still unable to properly distinguish between “I” and “me.” Additionally, your child will start using “not” to express a negative sentence. Your child will also be able to speak more clearly and people outside of the home will be able to understand him better.
In addition to yes/no questions, your child now can understand and respond to open-ended questions which start with an interrogative, such as “what” and “where.”
By the end of this period, your toddler will be able to identify the letter that his name starts with. Your child can also properly put toys away into labeled bins. This signifies the beginning of reading skill acquisition.
